We're turning 40 and invite you to celebrate with us!

Our family business turns 40 this year and to celebrate we have developed a series of 40 delicious recipes.

Starting Monday May 15 we're publishing two recipes per week for 20 weeks. “We’re celebrating 40 years in business by sharing recipes that represent the way we cook, eat and entertain,” says Peter Bouchier. “These are recipes from our family, friends and colleagues. Great recipes to feed the family and to entertain others.”

Peter and Sue Bouchier founded the family butchery in Malvern Road, Toorak in 1983. Taking over the butcher shop in which Peter completed his apprenticeship after arriving in Melbourne as a 16-year-old. Raised in the family butcher’s shop in Noorat in Western Victoria, Peter and his family continue old fashioned butchery values of quality and service while being at the forefront of preparing meat for the modern kitchen.

A pioneer in bringing style, quality and fine service to a once blokey industry, Peter and his family made butchers shops a pleasant and safe place for families to shop. Specialising in selecting the best free-range lamb, beef and pork for beautiful presentation, Peter Bouchier is also known for award winning smallgoods and sausages. Peter himself has become the go to butcher for information on the industry for journalists, radio producers and food writers for his honest and frank insights into an industry he is proud to represent.

The Bouchier family tradition continues with Peter and Sue’s three children, Danielle, Jacqui, and Tom all working in the family business. Tom Bouchier represents Australia on a global stage as a member of the Australian Butcher Team, recently coming a close second in the 2022 World Butchers’ Challenge held in Sacramento, California. Tom was also individually recognised as one of the best 6 butchers at the event with a position on the “All Stars” Team.
