Frequently asked questions
Fortunately, all Australian beef mince is legally allowed to come only from 100% muscle meat. You won't find any tongue, tripe, or other undesirables hiding in your beef mince. All Australian beef mince needs to be labelled with:
- Fat grading — if it claims to be lean mince
- The presence of organ meats
- The use of fillers, binders, or extenders
- It's always best to buy quality beef mince from a reputable seller who grinds their own mince in-house, like Peter Bouchier.
The difference is etymological. North American countries like Canada and the United States 'grind' their beef. In Britain and other Commonwealth countries, beef is 'minced'.
If you buy our beef mince fresh in store, we recommend using it within 2 days. Online orders are packed in sealed trays and include a printedbest before date on the label, usually around 6 days from packing. Keep refrigerated and follow the date on the tray.
